Look Back in Anger

First Performed: October 1988

Colchester. Mercury Theatre. October 1988.

John Osborne’s searing play that marked him out as the ‘angry young man’ of his generation: a love triangle involving an intelligent but disaffected young man, Jimmy Porter, his upper-middle-class, impassive wife Alison, and her haughty best friend, Helena Charles. Cliff, an amiable Welsh lodger, attempts to keep the peace.

Hugh (credited as Richard Bonneville) played Cliff.
